This is for photo #42 on Mike's photos from "old" galleries. That's a 48 star flag...sooooo...
July 4th 1912 - July 3rd 1959.
Hey anyone needing a flag cleaned...your local dry cleaners will usually clean and press it for free. I just had three 45 star flags cleaned. Look almost new.

Hey Jeff, great to hear from you again!
It is now June, 2010, and Garth Nelson and I are celebrating, sort of coincidentally, fifty years of close friendship. We met in June of 1960 as 13-year-olds (well, he turned 13 in August of '60) in S-8, way in the back of the Senior Camp, under the (brief) leadership of Rick Leavitt. We were at camp together, climbed mountains together, roomed together in grad school, canoed together, Coordinated Wyanoke's trips program together, ran a Scout troop together in Syracuse, periodically escaped real trouble together, and occasionally climbed together too, once in a while. And, as it happens, he's here in Colorado visiting for a few days right now.
Those of you who knew us at Wyanoke probably recognized the cameraderie we passed along to our tent groups through some pretty spectacular overnights, canoe trips and late-night pizza-smuggling, among other things. Who would have guessed we'd make it to fifty years, and keep counting?
I mention all that because I had to look at photo # 42 after you mentioned the flag, and suddenly I know who those guys are. The guy on the chair is in fact, Garth Nelson, and I believe that the picture is from 1961. The guy in the background with the glasses is Jerrey Hoyt, organizer of damn near everything at camp in those years. He looks kinda strange without a clipboard. And the guy leaning over never existed, though it might have been Andy Harris.
Thanks for bringing that pic to my attention again. It's all clear now... _________________ '56-C-9 C. Mosher '57-C-9 Bill Feaster

But Boss...If that was a pic from 1961...we got sorta a situation.
That's a 48 star flag, and um.....ahhhh...
It became obsolete on July 4th 1959. 49 starrrrr flag was used from July 4th, 1959 thru July 3rd, 1960.
I sure as heck don't wanna be the one to suggest that BMB is two flags behind..
Just a thought.(he-he-he)..
This internet thing...nobody else sees this right????
Don't wanna start no trouble...
Hi Mike...hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Great anniversary with the Garthman.
A toast to good friendships.
Need some more honey?? I have Russian and Italian bees this year...
Cheers...

Hi Jeff,
Funny you should mention the flag, because I think I remember that that flag was there for at least a couple years after Alaska joined the club.
Also, Garth and I were Aides in 1961 (S-1 with Slocum, Mr. to us, or Sloc), which puts Garth on that chair -- Aides did things like decorate for the Farewell Banquet for free. And, after looking at that photo a good deal more closely, I can say with some authority that the guy leaning over in the background is me, not Andy Harris. I recognize the hair line (HAHAHAHAHAHA!). No, really. And, at that time, Garth and I were rarely more than 25 feet apart for very long.
And, most enthusiastically "yes" on the bee juice. My god that stuff is good.
