Sherry and I extend to you and yours our very best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year. Please join us in a symbolic candle lighting as we reflect on this season, and as we pray for the well-being of all people on this earth.

Thanks Dave, and the same to you.

And thanks for your support of the website and last summer's fantastic reunion. I'm so sorry you couldn't join us.

At our Christmas concert, we (the Cherry Creek Chorale in Denver) surrounded our audience of about 400, slowly lowered the house lights and sang "Silent Night" in complete darkness. Every member of the choir (130 of us) held a little flickering candle lamp.

I looked at all those tiny lights in the darkness and was thrust back in time to the vision of candles preceeding me in the silent darkness back to J-8 after my last Farewell Banquet. My throat tightened up and I couldn't sing any more. It would have been beautiful enough as it was, but was all the more so with my recollection of that wonderful tradition of the candles Dan Mannis brought to us at Wyanoke.

So, Dave, here's a toast to your father and grandfather, whose vision became a reality and for many, a profoundly important influence and source of lifelong friendships, strength, courage and loyalty beyond their dreams. I'll light my candle for them and all of us on new year's eve.
