I just found this picture on my computer. It's of a camp "Military Drill" award, 1916. I copied the picture from an online auction several years ago. Thought you might enjoy seeing it. Cheers, Alec

What a great find!! Thanks for posting this picture.
Obviously, the Award had a practical use in that the winner could use it when drinking hot chocolate on those nippy August mornings.
Do you have the award, or only this picture? This is something I could be intertested in chasing down. _________________ C-1 49 J-7 52 S-3 55 J-10 58

Wow! That is neat! I'd never seen those before.
Hot Chocolate? Great way to burn your lips clean off. Bug juice, maybe. Maybe.
Edit:
Hey Dave, lookee here:
http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/9357614
It's still out there. I did a google search on Military drill award wyanoke, and this came up, second to Dave Ayars' notes on an old camp catalogue. I didn't look too close - I didn't see whether the auction is still active or not.
It's amazing the trail Wyanoke has left behind. It's getting harder and harder to follow, but it's still there. _________________ '56-C-9 C. Mosher '57-C-9 Bill Feaster

Gee Mike - how about that! When I first saw the stein it was on ebay, and didn't bring nearly 180. Evidently whoever bought it "flipped it" at Fox auctions (which appears to be in CA.!) and made a tidy profit. I still search the word Wyanoke on ebay pretty regularly. It's usually just postcards.
