My name is Peter Bennett and I attended Wyanoke from 1960 through 1964. I see a few familiar names on the member list. My mother's cousin, Bea Stone, used to work in the camp office, and I recall going up to her office every morning to visit her and to check the Boston Herald for the baseball scores.

Welcome aboard Peter. It is great to have you with us! I'm sure that we met at some point during your years at Wyanoke. Which section/s of Camp were you in between '60 and '64?

You will find a lot of interesting comments and photos on this site, many of which will bring back memories for sure! I remember Bea Stone particularly during my tenure as an "Office Aide" . . . . the summer of '60. She usually had us Aides running all over Camp delivering messages and stuff. We used her office whenever a camper received a phone call from parents, which was an infrequent occurrence.

Anyway . . . . . . . "free swim" starts in a half hour, franks & Boston baked beans for dinner including that great brown bread that Mrs. Morin used to make and then Campfire !

Hi Peter,

I had no idea you were connected to Bea (Miss Stone to us)! She was such a fixture at Wyanoke it was hard to imagine her not there. She retired after the summer of 1970, and the office just didn't seem the same without her in the chair. I got a LOT of salary advances from her over the summers (so I could take a day off and buy a burger at the top of Washington -- busman's holiday). She started at Wyanoke in 1942.
